Alright, who all went to the midnight showing?

You know this girl did. And in costume of course. Well kind of. I made a shirt that said Team Sirius Black. I know he died but I still love him.

So what did everyone think of the movie?

*************Warning spoilers***************

****Contains some spoilers from book and movie****

First off, I think they did a great job was staying fairly close to the books like all the other movies have done. Seriously, I can’t think of a better series adaptation then all the movies. They did such a perfect job at bringing the Harry Potter world alive to all of us. Plus is anyone else amazed by how all the actors still fit perfectly with their characters despite growing up? What would we have done with Daniel Radcliff had grown to be a six three hunky model type?

The big difference in my mind between the book and the movie was the plot line about Neville possibly being the one. If I remember the book correctly there was many comparisions between Neville and Harry. The hospital scene in the book in particular stands out to me and that was not included in the movie. Even though I do feel sad that we missed out on that part of the plot, I can see how if I was a movie goer that had not read the book, it would have made the movie too complicated. It would have added a lot of extra time to the movie.

I, along with most the theatre, was very happy that put in Mrs Wesley kicking some ass. My theatre cheered.

Any other thoughts on Harry Potter. What other book to movies adaptations are you looking forward to? Personally I can’t wait for the Mortal Instruments.

Today I went to see The Last Song. Having read the book, and completely loved it, I was very excited for this movie. It was great. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

The part that made me most excited for the movie was that Nicholas Sparks actually wrote the screenplay. I’ve loved all the movies based on his books. I had a feeling though that this one would be even more emotional because it would be closer to the actual feeling of the book. Obviously, there were not identical but they were very close. And yes, I was right, this movie made me cry more than any of the other ones.

All the actors did an amazing job. The little boy was absolutely perfect. He was exactly how I imagined him in the book. Same story with all the characters actually. When Sparks wrote The Last Song, the movie, he already knew Miley Cyrus would play the main character so obviously he wrote the part to fit her. Every other character was cast perfect though. Blaze was dead on. Everyone did great, even Cyrus.

Speaking of Cyrus, here is the original post I wrote about her and The Last Song.

http://www.heatherfinley.net/2009/09/10/sparks-new-book-written-with-miley-in-mind/

I seriously should have given her more credit then I did at the time. I take back everything I said. Hannah Montana might not be a show I care to watch still but she was absolutely brillant as Ronnie in The Last Song. Even before this movie, I finally gave her music a chance and honestly, I love the songs. Fly on the Wall is so catchy. She is a talented girl and I feel bad for not giving her a chance to begin with. After seeing her in this movie, I would love to see her do more roles.

Overall, The Last Song gets an A+, two thumbs up, five stars, whatever you want to call the top rating from me. I would even venture to say this is my favorite movie based on a Spark’s novel. Dear John was great too if you haven’t seen that. Worth checking out.

The next Spark’s novel to be converted to film are going to be The Lucky Ones and True Believer. It is not listed yet whether or not Spark’s will be involved in the screenplay. I certainly hope so. Can’t wait to see these movies!

Did anyone else see Jennifer’s Body? I saw it the day it was out in theatres then bought it today. So good. It reminds me a lot of Heathers. Amanda Seyfried is great in it. I personally think she is a great actress and in the movie she shows a broad range of emotions. Megan Fox, well she looks hot. I’m not saying that in a bad way. I absolutely love her but that role was all about being a sexy bitch. She pulls it off well.

Oh wait, I can make this relevent with books; Diabo Cody not only wrote this movie (and Juno) but she also has a book out called Candy Girl. It is about her stripper days. I have it but haven’t read it yet. One of these days soon.

******Contains details from Sookie Stackhouse books and some spoiler/info I’ve found on season three.*********

So I’ll admit, the first few Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris did not really catch my attention. The first two books I thought were okay but they did not stand out to me. I found them entertaining but I thought the television series was doing a better job at really filling out the story. Obviously, the show varied a lot from the books but it did it in a way that stayed true to them. Does that make sense? Anyways, I ended up deciding to pick up Club Dead as a fast read. I am now completely hooked on the series!

Club Dead really picked up for me because there was more than here is Sookie and Bill and here is a problem happening. It made it, here is Sookie and Bill is gone but Eric is there and another guy and Sookie has tons of stuff to deal with. I absolutely love what a strong character she become in this book. She basically kicks ass. Plus I think Harris really caught on to Sookie’s voice in this novel. It came alive more than the previous books in my mind.

The next book, Dead to the World was actually my favorite in the series so far. Hate to spoil this to all the Bill fans out there, but he’s out and Eric is in (at least for this book) and I absolutely love it. Pam also starts to have more personality in this book. This book was funny, sexy, and a story that I could barely rip myself away from. Now I’m only two books (plus the short stories) away from being completely up to day. I’m actually quite sad about that. I want more!

Besides the books, I can’t wait for more True Blood. I liked both seasons so far (yes even the crazy Greek stuff in season two) so am interested to see if it will follow the book. If so, I think the book is going to get better and better. Before I wrote this, I decide to see if I could figure out where season three was going. Let’s just say, big question mark at this point.

I tried not to read too much since I don’t want to spoil the season for myself. I have never been one to read television spoilers. The anticipation of watching it each week is better. I found two sites that said a little bit and interestingly enough, the said complete opposite things. First was IMDB. It has episode one listed as “Pack of Wolves”. There is two other titles for episodes listed two but it has no details on any of them. This makes me super exicited because Club Dead introduces us to the super sexy werewolf Alcide. He sticks around for more of the books too. Plus, who doesn’t love a werewolf/vampire/girl with weird mind power love triangle? Sorry, I had to referred to Twilight at least a little. I bet you anything that people will say True Blood is copying Twilight even though Club Dead was out years before Twilight.

Personally, I really hope this is the way that the story goes. It makes sense with the ending of last season, if I remember right. Could Bill have suddenly disappeared because of A) vamps trying to get his computer disk, B) Lorena calling him, or C) the Queen showed up? All of these (well minus A, since we don’t know about his computer stuff yet) would fit with the last season plus the book. Plus didn’t I hear rumors about Evan Rachel Woods showing up more in season three. Sidenote to anyone that has read the books, how perfect is she for that role?

I also found a site that listed news about a girl being cast as Crystal. This makes me super hopeful for the show following the books. She doesn’t actually show up until Dead to the World but she is definately a big(ish) character. She is a character that is meant to be disliked but not exacted hated. I think seeing her on screen will be funny. Maybe the show is going to roll two books into one season. I’d be okay with that because I can’t wait for more Eric! Plus that would make Quinn show up sooner too. He is going to be someone super hot, obviously.

Another site I found that I can’t remember the name of listed episode one as “Mine”. It then gave really long details on every little thing that happens in this episode. I scanned through it (again, not wanting to ruin it for myself) and found that it was giving a completely different story than Club Dead. There was something about other vamps trying to take Sookie and Bill saying “She mine.” There was a lot of stuff on Layfette and Tara. Layfette is not in the books at all so it would seem if they are focusing on him that they are getting even further from the books.

Only time will tell I guess. What do you think will happen in season three? Have you read the books?

Sorry about being so MIA lately. I’ve spent way more time reading than I have on my computer these days. And dating but that is a whole other story, lol. But I’m back. Well at least I hope. I think I’ll try to do the news stuff again starting next week because it was something to keep me writing every day.

Since I’ve been reading like crazy I’m going to start doing some blogs about books too. If you check out my reading list, you can see exactly what I’ve been reading. I’ll probably go back and write about at least a couple on the ones I’ve read last month. Especially on the book Pledged, I have been meaning to write some things. That was a book that really left me with a lot of thoughts at the end. Maybe I’ll even write on it tonight.

Besides reading like crazy, I have been trying to get into editting my book. I finished the first draft, did a written edit, and am now put corrects in while also doing a second edit. I kind of went through a period of really doubting that I could get anywhere with it but taking a few weeks away, then going back, completely changed my outlook. At this point I’m extremely happy with the way things are sounding. There are some parts that I’m completely in love with which is a great feeling. 2010 is definately going to be the year I become a published author. I have complete faith.

So yeah, reading and writing. Those are my excuses for not blogging but I feel like they are completely legit. Keep checking back for tons of new stuff up soon!

Oh PS, has anyone else seen the new Boondock Saints movies? I LOVED it.

Okay so I just came across this uneditted interview and found it interesting.

Alright so what I want to point out is the questions that she avoided. I read through some of the comments and some people were taking Megan’s side and other’s were taking the interviewers side.

Personally, I don’t think this lady was doing her job. As a journalist, she should have known to ask questions that were important to the subject manner. You are doing a story on Transformers. Why are you asking questions completely off topic.

When I first started college I was focused on being a journalist. In high school I was on the paper (which future playmate Sara Underwood by the way, lol. ) and took it very seriously. I studied as much as I could toward it while getting my AA but changed to English for my BA. I didn’t want to move away from Portland and there is better English programs here than journalism. I’m happy I went that route since I learned from a Marlowe expert and also almost from one of the best known Tolkien scholars. I say almost because they retired the year before me but my teacher got her lesson plans and many of her points from the previous teacher so I learned far more about Tolkien than I would have at any other college.

Anyways, one thing I learned in journalism was you have to stay on topic. You don’t have all the time in the world so if you have something specific to report on, you better get to business. I could only imagine how much more true this would be in television journalism. At a press junket, which is obviously where this was happen, you have an extremely short amount of time and it is directed at what the person is promoting. Obviously Megan is not supposed to answer questions outside of that. She is being paid to talk about Transformers.

For this journalist to put her on the spot with other questions was completely uncalled for. For this uneditted interview to make it online (to Russia Today’s official You Tube mind you) was wrong. It seems like they were trying to put Megan in a negative light by showing her avoiding questions. Her agent did a good job. I can only imagine how annoying it would be to have to sit and tell reports they are not asking questions within the areas they are told to discuss. I’m sure that women was told what she could and could not ask yet she tried many times to get off topic. Very unprofessional.

I think I need to make one of my life goals to make it to Comic Con. I’ll admit I’m not a huge comic person but I am enough that I think it would be fun. Plus I love any excuse to dress up. Yes, I would go in costume for sure.

So here is my questions for today. Are you going to Comic Con? Do you wish you were? If you had to dress up, who would you be?

I would go as Aspen from Fathom.

Did everyone else hear that Megan Fox is going to play her in the Fathom movie? I think Fox is actually somehow involved as producer too. I guess she was a huge Micheal Turner fan. I think she is going to be perfect for the role. She honestly does look like the character. I get told I look like Megan a lot (like this weekend it happened half a dozen times. Weird) so I could pull off Fathom too I think.
