What book got you hooked?

Okay so while looking for today’s news I came across this super awesome campaign going on right now with First Book. Until the end of next month, they are getting people to vote on what book got them completely hooked on reading. Not only that but they want you to select a state and that state will get a donation of 50,000 books to low-income kids.

So what book got you hooked? Three come to mind for me. Katie the Kitten was my first favorite. I memorized the entire thing when I was like two or something like that. I still remember most of that.
I also remember absolutely loving The Brocoli Tapes. It was about cats too. Does anyone else remember that book? I think there was a second one too.
My very favorite though, which will be the one I submit, is A Kind of Thief by Vivien Alcock. It is the story of a girl whose father gives her a baggage claim ticket right before he is arrested. It turns out to be a briefcase. She doesn’t know what it is but fears it is the money he might have stolen. I believe I bought it at a book fair at my school in fourth grade. I love love love that book. I have read it so many times and even today it is still great.
